[GUPS] Meeting And Committee Elections - Monday 30th November

Hi all,

this coming Monday (30th November) as well as our normal activities we'll be
having an Extraordinary General Meeting to elect a new board. We dusted off
the constitution a couple of weeks ago and decided we should align ourselves
with it, which means we need a board of at least 5 members consisting of
President, Treasurer and Secretary (all of whom must be matriculated
students) and 2 others. Since we had 5 on the board last year we've kept the
same extra 2 positions of Events Convenor and Technical Convenor.

If you'd like to put yourself forward for a position just ask someone to
nominate you here on the forum and get someone else to second it. At the
moment the candidates are as follows:

President: Sean Anderson
Treasurer: Tom Kelly
Secretary: Scott Ramsay (me)
Events Convenor: Jonny Nicholson
Technical Convenor: Benjamin 'Benzo' Harris

Voting will be done by a show of hands at Monday 30th's meeting, and if you
can't make it we've made a temporary amendment to the constitution (hey,
there's no board to veto it!) allowing email votes to be cast this week to
guphotosoc at gmail.com. I guess we'll officially write that in once the
election's over... We'll also be having a couple of short talks then a show
of hands election of board members, then unless there's any other business
going off to the QM union or a pub; so please don't stay away on account of
it being an EGM!

So if anyone's interested in running for one of the posts, or if you've got
any ideas for a new one you'd like to originate, get replying.
